Legal practice is concentrated in the areas of bankruptcy, corporate law, commercial litigation, and legal malpractice. Provides counseling to commercial clients on all aspects of business acquisition, organization, governance, employment issues, and other contracts.

Represents clients in federal and state court litigation, domestic and international arbitrations, and administrative proceedings.

Former Attorney Advisor to the Education Appeal Board, United States Department of Education.

Client Work

  • Advised trustee in Chapter 11 bankruptcy regarding secured creditor's claim for attorney's fees and expenses in excess of $1 million on issues relating to applicable law, scope of security interest, contract interpretation, and reasonableness of claimed fees.
  • Represented publicly-traded industrial training company in its Chapter 11 bankruptcy and liquidating asset sale, and favorably resolved numerous claims by federal, state and local tax authorities and former employees.
  • Represented U.S. Citizen and his Mexican investment in NAFTA Chapter 11 expropriation and discrimination claims before international arbitral tribunal against Government of Mexico. Won positive rulings on issues of first impression regarding NAFTA standing and jurisdiction, and a $2.2 million award to client based on Mexico's violation of its national treatment obligations under NAFTA.
  • Represented multiple independent sales representatives as plaintiffs in two multi-million dollar breach of contract claims against U.S. and international manufacturers.
  • Defended commercial real estate management company against $28 million suit involving breach of contract and wrongful termination claims.
  • Defended commercial clients against claims of violation of state Trade Secret Acts and breach of non-solicitation and non-compete claims.
  • Represented attorneys before state bars and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in various disciplinary proceedings.
